Learning Chinese through awareness is a way to learn Chinese, which accommodates the requirements of Standards of Chinese Course for Senior Secondary Schools and the humanistic characteristics of Chinese Teaching. This paper demonstrates the grounds on which learning Chinese through awareness acts as the important way to generate and construct Chinese attainments from such angles as the characteristics and functions of this method. This paper also discusses the generation scheme of learning Chinese through awareness and its illumination on teaching strategies.This paper is divided into four parts.Part one expounds the connotation of the concept of Chinese attainments and explains the theoretical grounds on which cultivation and enhancement of Chinese attainments are treated as the targets of Chinese teaching. After a survey, this paper points out that Chinese attainments are rich in their connotation, including not only Chinese knowledge, competence and skills but also the habits of learning Chinese, cultural attainments and so on. Chinese attainments are a kind of comprehensive attainments with the Chinese competence at the core. This paper holds that the treatment of cultivation of Chinese attainments as the targets of Chinese teaching emphasizes the cultivation of the spiritual elements of human beings. This practice complies with the law of language development and the ideas of the all-round development of human beings. Then, from the angle of reflecting the defaults of Chinese teaching in practice, this paper demonstrates the significance of Chinese teaching on the cultivation of students' affection, spiritual world and qualities of thoughts and the construction of perfect personalities. The causes underlying these defects are also analyzed. This paper points out that the discrepancy and errors in terms of the understanding the laws of Chinese teaching leads to the wrong tendency to emphasize cognitive learning and neglect learning through awareness.Part two explicates the connotation, basic characteristics and functions of learning through awareness. Learning Chinese through awareness is a rather high-level way of learning with perception as its basis and awareness as its core. It aims at cultivating sound personality and favorable individuality. It is a high-level way of the psychology of learning, the process of which is accompanied with rather strong emotions and spirit cultivation. Its characteristics are experience, emotion and internalization. Compared with other ways of learning Chinese, it has quite strong functions of affective education, ethical education and cognition through life and quite strong functions of cognition through intuition and grasp on the whole.Part three probes theoretically into the thinking procedure and psychological mechanism of learning through awareness. The task of the scheme of perception and experience is to understand emotionally. Gestalt and sudden awareness are the overall and connotative understanding. The scheme of covert internalization and awareness on the whole are deep-seated construction and subtle influence. Assimilation and acclimation are the overall scheme. Functionally and relatively, experience is the basis on which schemas are formed; gestalt and sudden awareness have rather strong functions of integration and instinctual awareness; the scheme of covert internalization and awareness on the whole has the function of generating language awareness and automatic perception to an extent; assimilation and acclimation are the generalization of all these functions.The thinking process of learning through awareness can be explicated through the steps of perception---awareness---association of ideas---innovation. It is, on the other hand, the process of learning languages.Part four elaborates the strategic enlightenment for which the psychological mechanism of learning through awareness carries it out, so as to explain the strategies of the operatability of the generation and construction of Chinese quality with learning through awareness. It explicates rhythmical recital method, situation method, implication method and wonderful awareness method for the generation and construction of Chinese method, and at last concludes learning through awareness is an important means of cultivation of Chinese quality.
