Globalization,informatization and sustainable development are the characteristics of the 21 st century,and these characteristics are closely related to critical thinking.People who want to survive and thrive in the world with these characteristics of the times,must have a certain ability to adapt to the complex and changing world.And critical thinking skills are required of the core elements of these abilities.In the 1960 s,western developed countries such as the United States,Canada and so on attached great importance to the research and application on critical thinking.They think that critical thinking is an indispensable element in the whole process of learning In the late 1970 s and early 1980 s,critical thinking courses gradually entered the universities,middle schools and primary schools of western developed countries,and achieved remarkable results.In China,our research on critical thinking started late which in a weak state.In particular,the research on critical thinking of middle school stage is still in the exploratory stage.Based on research status of high school students’ critical thinking,this paper firstly introduces the theoretical knowledge of critical thinking,then a questionnaire survey was conducted on some high school students in Kunming,furthermore this paper summarizes the current situation about high school students’ critical thinking tendencies and explore whether there are significant differences in gender,grade and subject.In addition,the paper analyzes the causes of the current situation from historical and cultural traditions,the status of domestic research on critical thinking,college entrance examination system,the traditional way of teaching,the thinking features of high school students,the questionnaire itself and teaching textbooks.Finally the paper focuses on the analysis of teaching textbooks.Using Chinese and American high school physics teaching textbooks for comparative study,then puts forward some references and opinions on the presentation of critical thinking in Chinese teaching textbook.
