This study from the perspective of critical thinking training and compared the ecology part of Chinese and American mainstream senior high school biology textbooks(PEP high school biology required three "Homeostasis and Environment" and American science textbooks "Biology:the dynamics of life ").This paper makes a comparative study of critical thinking training in the column setting,knowledge modules and the distribution of critical thinking skills in this two teaching materials.Through the research and statistics of the ecology part of the two teaching materials,the training of critical thinking skills in the PEP teaching materials is 463 times,and the number of training in the "the dynamics of life" has reached to the level of 511 times.The common point of the two textbooks is that they have fully penetrated the cultivation of critical thinking skills and pay attention to the training of basic skills "Interpretation"dimension.The content of two dimensions "Evaluation" and "Self-regulation" is less,which can be further supplemented and improved.The main differences between the two teaching materials is that“the dynamics of life”has set more contents of the critical thinking training and focus on cultivating students' ability of analysis;Skill dimension of PEP content contains more comprehensive and the PEP textbook focus on cultivating students' ability of inference and communication.In the setting of the column,the cultivation of critical thinking is more in the evaluation and development columns of "he dynamics of life";the PEP textbook pay attention to the cultivation of critical thinking in the introduction and inquiry columns.In the distribution of the sub skills of critical thinking,the distribution of PEP Textbooks is more average,and "the dynamics of life" is lack of training of"Evaluation induction and deduction".The development of critical thinking is a long-term process,which cannot be separated from the basic knowledge,and is closely related to the actual situation of classroom teaching.We need to persevere in the teaching process of training,fully understand and use the teaching materials in an appropriate way,and develop more and more teaching resources to promote the students' critical thinking skills and disposition in the same time.
