With the rapid development of globalization,almost all the countries in the world has improved the emphasis on the importance of education,and the communication of education has been increasing.British Broadcasting Corporation organized and shot a documentary Are our kids tough enough,Chinese School,which is about the English and Chinese education models,it introduced five Chinese teachers to teach British students with traditional Chinese teaching methods in Bohunt middle school in Hampshire,and finally compared with the results with the British education.This experiment has caused wide public concern in society.In the teaching lasting for four weeks,the cultural conflicts reflected in the collision of the Chinese education model that the Chinese teachers represent and British education model inevitably has become the topic of discussion.This thesis is mainly based on this documentary.on the basis of analysis of previous researches on educational model and cultural conflict,by sorting the different cultural conflicts presented in the documentary,such as verbal conflict,conflicts on habits,value conflicts,the thesis adopts the method of text analysis,mainly from the aspects of cross-cultural communication explores the characteristics of conflict,the cause of the conflict.The analysis of the causes mainly use Geert Hofstede's culture dimension theory,respectively from individualism and collectivism,power distance,uncertainty avoidance long and short term orientation and Hall's high and low context four aspects to analyze,finally proposes the strategies of dealing with the conflicts.Influenced by traditional culture,Chinese educational model has the characteristics of respecting tradition and authority,emphasizing collectivism.Chinese school is group oriented teaching which play emphasis on discipline and the accumulation of basic knowledge.In comparison,Britain that has a almost complete social welfare system is more free,British educational model pays much more attention on personality and emphasizes individualism.So it tends to be more individual oriented teaching and provides loose and free environment for the students to learn,with paying attention to thedevelopment of the students' individual value.In the collision of two different educational models,British and Chinese teachers and pupils are realizing the interdependence of the different models.In today's increasing development of globalization,whether Chinese or British educational model,both need to complement each other,so as to enhance intercultural communication and reduce friction.Actively cultivating cross-cultural awareness,increasing cultural exchanges and enhancing communication efficiency are crucial for people from different cultures.
