By the early 2016,people aged 60 years or elder account for 13.26% of the whole population,which increased by 2.93% compared with 2000.With the reduction of birth rate and the extension of people's life expectancy,aging problem is becoming more and more serious in China.Relevant medical statistical analysis has shown that people aged 60 years or older are more likely to have cancer.There has been an increasing trend in elderly people suffering cancer in China.Due to the growth of age and the decline of body function,elderly people who have cancer are more vulnerable.Because of the irreversibility of cancer,the most common method of treating elderly cancer patients is the combination of medical treatment and clinical care.In recent years,psychological therapy based on psychology and clinical care has been making progress in relieving the psychological anxiety of elderly cancer patients.By drawing on the theoretical basis and practical experience of previous researchers,and combing relevant intern experience in radiotherapy department in the First Hospital of Jilin University,the author attempts to integrate the theory of gerontological social work and social work.He applies rational emotional therapy to the relief of psychological anxiety of elderly cancer patients as case work in order to explore the practical significance of social work.The author tries to study the subjects of case work on the basis of systematic theory and employs rational emotional therapy to alleviate the anxiety of the subjects.By doing so,he can detect the role of social work in psychological anxiety service of elderly cancer patients.During the process of the project,the author uses systemic perspective theory as the main theory to carry out his case work.He integrates rational emotional therapy and case work and communicates with the subjects face to face for eight times.Meanwhile,he contacts with the family members of the subjects and tries to understand their social network.The author helps the subjects to find out problems and make service plans and service goals.He witnesses the growth and progress of the subjects.After case service,the author compares the psychological change of the subjects through self-evaluation of anxiety scale(SAS).And he would obtain the final outcome according to the communication with their family members and the evaluation of supervision.In conclusion,the author employs rational emotional therapy to relieve the psychological anxiety of elderly cancer patients.Through face-to-face communication,he guides the subjects to find out problems and develops their ability of finding and solving problems.The author can discover the potential of the subjects and integrate relevant resources to relieve their anxiety so that subjects can undergo external behavioral change.
