Breast cancer is the first malignant tumor that seriously threatens the health of women all over the world. In recent years, the incidence of breast cancer in China has been increasing year by year.Compared with other cancers, breast cancer is at the junction of the internal disease centered on health and the external manifestation centered on image. The existence of this feature makes the female body present a gender physical characteristics after the disease.Women’s breasts under the background of modern society have important meaning,it also leads to the breast cancer in women treated with mastectomy under pain of torture at the same time, also for mastectomy self-identity and the change of the relationship, under the anxiety, fear, negative emotions, even negative self ashamed because of the disease, produce disease of shame.Stigma is an irrational belief of patients due to illness, which is manifested as a negative self-oriented behavior.Long-term psychological distress has adverse effects on disease recovery and physical health. Therefore,it is of great significance to intervene in the stigma of female breast cancer patients. This study focuses on the stigma of breast cancer patients, taking Ms.A,A breast cancer patient from X Provincial Hospital as the service object, and tries to use rational emotional therapy to intervene in the case of breast cancer stigma of Ms.A in social work.Guided by the ABC theory of rational emotion, this study formulated A case work plan based on Ms.A’s actual personal situation. The whole intervention process was based on the main line of correcting unreasonable beliefs of service objects, and the intervention process was divided into three stages: identifying unreasonable beliefs, refuting unreasonable beliefs, and consolidating reasonable cognition.By using the related technology of rational emotion therapy and refuting the unreasonable belief of the service object,we can help the service object to establish rational cognition. The last stage of this study is the evaluation stage, which adopts two evaluation methods: process evaluation and result evaluation. The results showed that casework was helpful to reduce the level of stigma in breast cancer patients, and rational emotional therapy had a significant effect on the intervention of women with breast cancer stigma, and social workers played a unique role in reducing the level of stigma in women with breast cancer.Of course, while seeing remarkable results, there are also some factors such as low recognition of medical social work, more emphasis on the here and now in rational emotional therapy, and many ethical problems in the process of case work involving breast cancer patients. In this study, through the provision of professional social work services, the service objects gradually find a new balance point in their post-disease life and return to normal life, which provides a certain value reference for the future research of social work intervention in the field of breast cancer stigma.
