Objective: A survey has been conducted of students from nursing classes of 2014,2015 and 2016,of One Medial College(OMC)to investigate the personality traits of nursing students and the factors influencing them, including individual, school, family and social factors, with a view to providing a scientific basis for the nursing school to carry out mental health education and counseling to guarantee the student's sound personality and mental health.Method: A total of 2500 questionnaires were distributed to 2500 students from nursing classes of 2014,2015 and 2016,OMC,and 2346 valid questionnaires were finally collected(93.8%).The questionnaire includes two parts: Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)Adult Edition;Self-Prepared Influencing Factors Scale Questionnaire. The data were recorded with Epidata3.1and then analyzed with SPSS20.Statistical methods adopted are statistical interpretation,chi-square test,t-test,variance analysis and ordinal logistic regression. Results: 1 The original EPQ scores for the four dimensions are respectively P(Psychoticism)5.77,E(Extraversion)10.68,N(Neuroticism)13.16,and L(Lie)11.04.After the four original scores were changed into t scoresaccording to the EPQ Scoring Criteria,it was found that most students scored 43.3-56.7 in all the four dimensions, which indicates an average level.2 Comparison of personality traits between different groups of nursing students 2.1 Individual factor 2.1.1 The four-dimension survey of students of different genders showedstatistical significance, relative to the national norm. Both male and female nursing students obtained higher scores in P,E and N and lower scores in L.And there was no statistically significant difference between male and female nursing students in the four dimensions.2.1.2 The EPQ four dimension survey of nursing students with varied physical conditions showed statistical significance(P<0.01).It was found that those with poor conditions had lower scores in P and N,while those with good conditions had lower scores in E and L.2.1.3 Differences in concern over looks in the four dimensions were statistically significant. In the dimensions of P,E and N,the group with much concern got the highest scores. In L,the group with little concern got the highest scores.2.2 Family factor 2.2.1 Differences in E between students living in different areas were statistically significant(P<0.05).In the E dimension, those living in the city got the highest scores.2.2.2 Differences in P and E between students with varied family economic conditions showed statistical significance(P<0.05).In both P and E,those with good economic conditions had the highest scores.2.2.3 There was statistical significance in differences between students having different relations with their parents and other family members in the four dimensions of P,E,N and L(P<0.01).In P,those with poor relations with their family members had the highest scores;in P,those with average relations had the highest scores;in E and L,those with good relations had the highest scores.2.3 School factor 2.3.1 There were statistically significant differences in the scores of P,E,N and L obtained by students going to high schools of varied teaching quality(P<0.01).In P and N dimensions, those who had gone to high schools of poor teaching quality got the highest scores;in E and L,those who had gone to high schools of good teaching quality got the highest scores.2.3.2 There were statistically significant differences in the scores of P,E,N and L obtained by students with varied relations with high school teachers(P<0.01).In P and N,the poor relation group obtained the highest scores, but in E and L,the good relation group obtained the highest scores.2.4 Social factor 2.4.1 Different degrees of satisfaction with social status shown in the scores of P,E,N and L were statistically significant(P<0.01).The dissatisfaction group had the highest scores in P and N;the satisfaction group had the highest scores in E and L.2.4.2 Different social skills and adaptive capacities between nursing students shown in the scores of P,E,N and L were statistically significant(P<0.01).The group with poor skills and capacities obtained the highest scores in P and N,while the group with good skills and capacities obtained the highest scores in E and L.3 Factors affecting personality characteristics:Based on the results of multiple stepwise regression and Ordinal logistics regression analysis,(1)The concerns of the future,a variety of psychological imbalance, evaluation of growing environment might be factors affecting P(psychoticism).(2)N(nervosity)might be affecting by the psychological pressure influenceon the study and life, all kinds of psychological imbalance, wounded pride, suicidal ideas, adaptation to new environment.(3)Social skills, frequency in physical exercise activity, the frequency of the friends pour out, adaptation to new environment, falling in love, hobbies may be the influence factors of E(inside and outside character).(4)consistency in ideal and specialty, the anxiety related with inability to concentrate, all kinds of psychological imbalance might be factors affecting L(hide).Conclusions:1 The scores obtained by nursing students from this school are mostly in the range of 43.3-56.7,indicating that most students are on an average level. The other scores were found within the minority, suggesting that the survey results have high reliability.2 Eysenck personality traits are subject to individual, family, school, social and other factors, thus asking for more attention to the cultivation of a sound personality. In the future health education,it's necessary to take targeted, guiding education measures based on different types of personality to help students shape a healthy, positive personality.
