Motivation is the internal power that causes and maintains individual activities,and moves the activity toward a certain goal.Due to the characteristics of the ups and downs of the motivation,the students who are good at regulating the self motivation in the learning process must be in a dominant position.However,most of the current researches in the field of foreign language learning are mainly about the use of motivational strategies in the process of foreign language learning for senior high school students and college students.Because of the difference in the self-regulated ability of the learners of different ages,the degree of regulation and control of the motivation will be different.Therefore,it is of great significance for the junior high school students to adjust their learning motivation in English learning.On the basis,this study selects grade two students in Urumqi 19 th Middle School of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as the subjects,and tries to investigate the use of motivational regulation strategies for junior high school students in English learning.In this study,two kinds of research methods,questionnaire survey and interview,are used to study the current situation of junior high school students' English learning motivation.The main research questions are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of junior high school students' English learning motivation?(2)Is there any correlation between the use of motivational regulation strategies and their English proficiency?(3)What are the similarities and differences between boys and girls in the motivational regulation strategies? In this study,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 81 students of grade 2 in Urumqi 19 th Middle School of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,and the data were analyzed by SPSS17.0statistical software.The interviews were conducted in order to supplement the questionnaire,and six participants were interviewed in this study.The results show that the use of eight kinds of motivational regulation strategies of junior high school students have reached a medium or high level.The frequency of use of the eight strategies of the girls are higher than that of boys.In the eight strategies,the strategies of the other seven strategies are positively correlated with English achievement in addition to the low correlation of the Consequence strategy.The results show that the positive regulation of junior high school students' motivation in English learning can improve their academic performance.Therefore,motivational regulation is an important factor in foreign language learning.
