AimThe aim of this study was to explore the effect of 4 weeks’ Fun Running activities on the stereotypic behaviors of children with ASD.MethodAn ABA design was implemented in which the participant was observed during three phases:(a)1 week baseline(b)week 4 of implementation of Fun Running(c)1week follow up.Three children aged 7-9 years participated in thrice or fifth-weekly70-minute session of fun running lasting for 4 consecutive weeks.Inclusion criteria for participants in this study were(1)identified as meeting the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition,Text Revision,criteria for autism(2)have stereotypic behavior(3)no use of antipsychotics,selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and other drugs as well as other concomitant sexual disorders(4)in regular school(5)Family members accompanying.During the study period Caregivers used the”ABC stereotype record”to record the occurrence times of participants’ stereotypy.Results1、Case A: The mean score of stereotypy behavior of intervention period have decreased by 6 percent compared with baseline period;The mean score of stereotypy behavior of follow-up period have decreased by 34 percent,the overall trend of decline.2、Case B: The mean score of stereotypy behavior of intervention period have decreased by 42 percent compared with baseline period;The mean score of stereotypy behavior of follow-up period have increase by 59 percent,but still below the mean score of stereotypy behavior of baseline period.3、Case C: The mean score of stereotypy behavior of intervention period have decreased by 26 percent compared with baseline period;The mean score of stereotypy behavior of follow-up period have increase by 25 percent,but still below the mean score of stereotypy behavior of baseline period.Conclusion1,The stereotyped behavior of the case is mainly to seek stimulate.2,Fun running can reduce the occurrence of autism children stereotypes and has delay,but there are individual differences.3,the higher the frequency of fun running activities,the better effect ofstereotyped behavior of autistic children.4,The sport may provide to meet the needs of self-stimulation for reducing the occurrence of stereotyped behavior.
