With the development of China's economy,the binary system of urban and rural structure leads to the imbalance development between urban and rural areas.This problem produces the phenomenon of left-behind children.In recent years,experts and scholars have paid more attention to the research of left-behind children's education.The English teaching of the left-behind children in rural areas falls behind in the whole English teaching in our country.In order to improve the quality of English teaching in China,this problem ought to be solved.For this reason,this paper mainly discusses the difficulties and the influencing factors of left-behind children's English learning.This research mainly adopts the form of questionnaire and interview,to investigate 360 left-behind children from grade four to grade six in a primary school in Ningbo.This investigation focus on the left-behind children's English learning difficulties,causes and influencing factors.The contents of the survey include the specific performance of left-behind children's English learning difficulties and the influence of their family,school and teacher.This article explores three questions:(1),the specific forms of English learning difficulties of left-behind children?(2),how do families,schools and teachers influence their English learning difficulties?(3),how to solve these difficulties ?The results show that left-behind children's English learning capability and quality are poor.They have no confidence in learning,their autonomous learning ability is low and their academic performance falls behind other students.The parents of the left-behind children have prejudice against the left-behind children's English learning and have backward educational concept.Their family education mode is not scientific,and has lower education qualities.Their school lacks teaching facilities and pays little attention to English teaching.Teachers do not have a deep understanding of the educational problems of left-behind children.They can't teach students in accordance with their aptitude in their English class teaching and lack flexible teaching methods.To sum up,this paper puts forward some countermeasures for the English learning difficulties of the left-behind children from three aspects: the school,the teacher and the family.Hope to solve the problem of left-behind children in English teaching.This paper can be divided into six parts: The first part is the introduction,and mainly describes the research background,research significance and research status at home and abroad.The second part is the definition of left-behind children and learning difficulties and the corresponding theoretical basis.The third part is the research design,which introduces the research contents,research object,research methods and research process of left-behind children's English learning difficulties.The fourth part is the analysis and discussion of the results of English learning difficulties of left-behind children.First,analysis and discussion of the results of English learning difficulties of left-behind children and then analyzes the influencing factors of English learning difficulties of left-behind children from three aspects : family,teachers and schools.The fifth part puts forward some suggestions to solve the problems of English learning for the left-behind children.The last part is the conclusion.
