Textbook is not only the main tool of teaching,but also the main resource for students' learning.With the deepening of the curriculum reform for basic education,a large number of textbooks in different versions flood into the market.And with the National English Curriculum Standards revised and published by the Ministry of Education,new revised junior English textbooks are published,too.In this case,the selection and study of textbooks is particularly important.Based on lots of previous textbook researches,this study will compare,analyze,generalize the textbooks Go for it! before and after revision,which are the textbooks of 2006 edition and 2012 edition published by People's Education Press.And the study tries to answer the following questions: What are the differences between the 2012 and 2006 editions in the perspectives of guiding ideology,overall structure,the frame of single volume,the plate layout of each unit,illustrations,vocabulary,grammar,phonetics,exercises and texts? What opinions do teachers have in the use of the textbooks? Through the discussion of these problems,the study finally draws the conclusion,finds out the weakness of the 2012 edition of the textbook and puts forward some suggestions on the use of textbooks,hoping to help the teachers to use the revised textbooks flexibly and creatively.Research methods used in the research include: literature research,comparative study,questionnaire and interview.The research found that both the two sets of textbooks pay attention to quality education,structure,vocabulary,exercises and topics.And the 2012 edition of the textbooks is more in line with the requirements of the new National English Curriculum Standards.It is more scientific and reasonable in structure,plate layout setting,content selection and so on.There is greater improvement in vocabulary too.It can better promote the comprehensive development of the students' listening and speaking,reading and writing.However,there are still some problems,such as: the grammar arrangement is still disorder,writing and listening are difficult,the amount of reading material is large.Therefore,aiming at these problems,there are some suggestions for the teachers,including: deleting,adding or integrating some teaching contents,adjusting the teaching order.And teachers had better pay more attention to quality education and the level of teaching contents,strengthen the cultivation of students' autonomous learning ability and the teaching of various themes and genres,and emphasize on the cultivation of comprehensive language using ability.
