A Study On The Mutual Support Group Intervention In The Urban Elderly Living Alone

In the wake of the continuous deepening of aging degree of population in our country and the change of family structure,the relationship model of family members has been changed in the sense that the family size has presented the trend of miniaturization,leading to more and more senior citizens becoming the elderly living alone.The urban elderly living alone are found with excessive demands in terms of physical health,economic income,daily life cares and spiritual and cultural life,especially in the aspect of social interaction and social support etc.With the elderly living alone ages,they suffer from shrunk social circle and diminished self-help and mutual assistance competences,which inducing a multitude of problems for them.Under the circumstance,it not only remains a problem for individual or household to continuously broaden the social communication circle of urban elderly living alone and enhance their self-help and mutual assistance capabilities,but also a problem that deserves equal concern from social workers.The paper takes the urban elderly living alone in the Xing huayuan Community as reseach object,and carries on an investigation on the living situation of the urban elderly living alone in the community with the adoption of household investigation and survey and questionnaire and so on.Base on this,with the aid of group working method,the paper involves an analysis of the necessity and feasibility of the construction of mutual association among the elderly living alone.In the process of group work intervention,social workers take the professional perspective of social work,adhere to the purpose of helping people to help themselves,take into consideration the practical needs of senior people living alone in the community,and propose the concrete method of group work intervening into urban elderly living alone.By means of establishing support group,social workers strengthened the consciousness of self-help and mutual assistance among the elderly living alone,enhanced the social adaptation capability and confidence of elderly living alone and lay a foundation for the establishment of mutual association amongst community elderly living alone.Through recording,evaluating and reflecting on each round of group activity process,and making final evaluation on the effect of group work intervention,a set of effective resolution concerning the construction of mutual association among urban elderly living alone is worked out,which renders referential experience for related services of urban elderly living alone.
