An Experimental Study On The Application Of English Critical Reading Teaching In Senior High School

Reading is of great importance in the English language teaching.From the increasing proportion of the reading increase in College Entrance Examination in China,English reading is found to have taken on a more important role in English language teaching.At the same time,English tests show that students are poor in terms of reading ability.Hence,English teachers get down to paying more attention to English reading teaching and improve the teaching methods constantly so as to improve students' reading ability.And critical reading teaching is regarded an effective way to teach English reading.Critical reading teaching emphasizes on students' active involvement.It is the process of students' analyzing,thinking,and exploring.Critical reading teaching,in one way,can help students cultivate their critical reading ability.The research adopts questionnaire and reading tests to try to conduct the English critical reading teaching in senior high school to enhance senior high school students' consciousness of using the critical reading strategies and improve their reading ability.In order to testify the effects of critical reading teaching in English class,the author has applied the critical reading teaching to reading lessons to 93 students of Grade 11 in Shijiazhuang NO.1 Middle School in Hebei Province from September 2017 to February 2018.On the basis of understanding critical reading teaching and other related reading theories,the author writes the thesis to discuss the application of English critical reading teaching in senior high school.During the teaching process of English critical reading,the author guides the students to master some reading skills as well.The statistics and the result prove that critical reading teaching can enhance students' consciousness of using the critical reading strategies and strengthen their reading ability much more efficiently than traditional teaching method.
