Language learning is a process of long term accumulation.Phonetic is the foundation of language learning.In our country,there is scarcely any environment during the process of learning a new language.It's hard for students to avoid the effects of their mother language.Learning in the class from their teachers is the most usual way of English learning.As the basis element of improving their phonetic and communicative competence,it's worthy to be much accounted by English teachers.Phonetic teaching shouldn't be the week point.The strategies of phonetic teaching in primary school are still in exploration process.On the base of negative transfer,language learning and teaching principle,this study generalizes some strategies in particular.It is hoped that English teachers will use them in class according to their actual needs.Strategies proposed on this thesis will help phonetic teaching and provide new ideas for English teacher.Most importantly,it can prevent or reduce the effects from the negative transfer of first language.This thesis is composed of six parts.Chapter one is an introduction.It introduces the background and significances.Chapter two is the literature review.It discusses the concept definition of language transfer and teaching strategy.It also gives a brief introduction of related research home and abroad.Chapter three introduces the three theory foundations.They are the theory of language transfer,constructivism theory and critical period hypothesis.Chapter four is the research which through questionnaire for students and interview for teachers.Chapter five is the analysis of the research.It will discuss the effects from negative transfer of first language,and set strategies for phonetic teaching.Chapter six is the summary of the whole paper.It aims to raise the attention on phonetic teaching among primary teachers.
