When it comes to Chinese language teaching at elementary school inJeollanam-do, South Korea, There is a general phenomenon that the ChinesePhonetic Alphabet is being ignored during teaching, some teachers tend to useHangul, the Korean alphabet to mark the Chinese pronunciation. This dealing willhave enormous negative impact on learners and should be rooted out. It reminded methe importance of studying the strategy of teaching Chinese phonetic to elementaryschool students. This paper mainly involves four parts. The first part shows the current situation of Chinese language teaching atelementary school in Jeollanam-do. It is widely acknowledged that phoneticsteaching is the foundation of teaching language, and Chinese phonetic Alphabet isthe foundation of phonetics teaching, so it·s extremely important. However, thoseelementary schools in Jeollanam-do haven·t paid enough attention on it yet,and theChinese Phonetic Alphabet is being ignored during teaching, it becomes a commonphenomenon. The second part compared the Chinese and Korean phonetic system with theinternational phonetic symbol separately, proved that the difference between theChinese phonetic system and the Korea phonetic system is huge. Because of thedifference, the act of using the Korean alphabet to mark the Chinese pronunciation isincorrect, and it will lead to inaccuracy or even wrong pronunciation. In the third part, the paper introduces the critical period theoryμ of languagelearning, proved that pupils are very sensitive to the sound of foreign language, andit·s much easier for them to distinguish and to imitate. So the teaching of Chinesephonetic Alphabet is not that difficult. In the fourth part, In order to find the appropriate way of teaching Chinesephonetic to elementary school students, this paper put forward four ways, the first is we must teach the Chinese Phonetic Alphabet in Chinese language teaching atelementary school, the second is there is big differences between teaching Chinesephonetic Alphabet to native learners and to foreign learners, we should realize it anduse different strategies, the third is we should teach Chinese phonetic both inindividual syllables and flowing sentences, the last is we should use the Chinesephonetic Alphabet flexibly in elementary school·s Chinese teaching.
