Oral English is a very important aspect of the comprehensive abilities in language use.However,graduates from vocational schools are generally weak in English communicative competence.They attach great importance to studying professional skills but ignore English study,especially oral English.Their enthusiasm to learn English is not high;most students do not dare to speak,cannot speak or are not willing to speak in oral English class.What's more,the teaching ideas of English teachers are outdated and not innovative;they lay emphasis on language knowledge,but pay little attention to cultivating students' oral communicative competence.Therefore,teaching in vocational oral English classroom is not efficient.As for the current situation of vocational English teaching,the author introduced a teaching model of scaffolding English speaking to a secondary vocational school.The author conducted the experiment in two classes majoring in computer of Chengde Information and Technology Vocational School,which lasted for six months.All the students are non-English majors in Grade 2014.One is the experimental class,which adopted the scaffolding English speaking teaching model in oral English teaching.The other is the control class,which used the traditional teaching method.And this empirical study aims to testify whether the model can enhance the vocational students' oral English interest and develop their English communicative competence.The author conducted two oral tests(PETS1)in the two classes both before and after the experiment,and used SPSS20.0 for quantitative analysis of their oral test scores.Before and after the experiment,twenty students were chosen out of the experimental class and the control class randomly according to the student's ID number to attend interviews to collect further information about the students' oral English learning.The author took analysis of the interview results.The results from the experiment show that: the scaffolding English speaking teaching model is an effective method to stimulate the vocational students' interest in oral English learning and improve their oral communicative competence.
