Compared with the first generation of disembodied cognitive science,embodied cognitive theory,as a new kind of cognitive view,emphasizes the interaction between body,environment and mind in the course of learning.It also highlights the important role of human body.Guided by the theory of embodied cognition,embodied teaching strategies,which are in accordance with pupils' concrete thinking and active personality,have been applied in primary school English teaching.The thesis aims at finding out the effects of embodied cognitive strategies in primary school English teaching.On the basis of the previous findings in primary school education and English teaching in this field,the author explores the application of embodied teaching strategies in the teaching of pronunciation,vocabulary,reading,ballad and oral English.By teaching experiments,questionnaires and interviews,the author draws the following conclusions.(1)Students in primary school show a strong embodied tendency;it's feasible to apply embodied teaching strategies to primary school English teaching.(2)The method also has positive effects on senior grade students.(3)Embodied teaching strategies can promote the primary school English teaching in pronunciation,vocabulary,reading,ballad and oral English.(4)The combination of embodied teaching strategies and other strategies can optimize the effectiveness of English teaching.By using embodied teaching strategies,we can improve the present teaching situation to some extent and provide new choices of teaching modes for teachers.
