The Training Of English Vocabulary Learning Strategy Of Junior Students In Sport School

Vocabulary is the basis of language learning.Effective learning strategies can help learners improve their English learning.Many scholars have conducted studies on vocabulary learning strategies,but there are few studies on the English vocabulary learning strategies of junior students in sport school.This study is based on an empirical study with 80 students from two classes in Grade Eight of Wuxi Sport School as study objects.By using questionnaire survey,interview and English vocabulary test,this study is intended to solve the following research questions:(1)What is the situation of the use of English vocabulary learning strategies of junior students in sport school?(2)Can the training of English vocabulary learning strategy promote the use of strategies of junior students in sport school?(3)Can the training of English vocabulary learning strategy improve learners' scores in English vocabulary tests?In this study,the students were first surveyed and interviewed about their use of vocabulary learning strategies.Meanwhile,the students were also required to have English vocabulary tests and the scores were recorded and analyzed.After 4-month training of English vocabulary learning strategy in English teaching,questionnaire survey,interview and test were used again to see the results.According to the study,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Junior students in sport school never or seldom use English vocabulary learning strategies;(2)The training of English vocabulary learning strategy can promote the use of vocabulary learning strategies by junior students in sport school;(3)The training of English vocabulary learning strategy can improve learners' scores in English vocabulary tests.
