Exponential function is a kind of important basic elementary function for high school students,although it is just a simple basic elementary function,as the application of the thinking method of exponential function and many comprehensive factors of exponential compound function.And It makes students have many difficulties in learning and understanding the exponential function.Even though the study about index and index function's instructional design of many educators and scholars are abundant,but most of the people pay more attention to the the teaching design,the concept of,application,problem solving of exponential function,and then put forward their own viewpoint about it,while the study which mainly about the empirical use of the exponential function is limited.The author has visited some high school teachers,through these interviews,the teacher doesn't know what difficulties the students have came over about the exponential function in the learning process,a part of the teachers think exponential function is a very simple basic elementary function,and there aren't any substantial problems in it.But some students express that they can't completely eliminate obstacles according to their teacher's explanation.So the author mainly regard the high school students' learning difficulties toward the exponential function as the research content,choosing a high school in Harbin and the red part of the higher grade of high school students as subjects study.Finding some senior students of the two schools to do a series of questionnaire survey and topic test,then using the Excel and SPSS software to finish the questionnaires and the data analysis.At last getting a high school students' present situation about their ability to study and master the Exponential function,and generally summarizes the following learning difficult types: 1.Basic knowledge of the exponential function control is difficult.In this kind of difficulty,the high school students' mastery of power and exponent function is good,but the error rate is high.2.The distinction of the exponential function conception is difficult.In the given exponential function analysis test,the mastery of the limited conditions in exponential function concept is not accurate.3.The mathematical thinking method application is difficult.In the seven basic idea of high school class,demanding the students to master the number form combining ideas,transforming into,classification,discuss ideas.And these ideas in the application exist learning difficulties.4.The understanding of the index type composite function is difficult.Exponential function is the key point of high school learning,while the compound function is a difficult point for high school students,it is more difficult to learn when combining all these two points.In learning this part,the Students mainly exist following hardship: ignoring the inspection about the function domain,range,monotonicity and lacking the idea in your and so on.
