In modern times,science and technology changes with each passing day.The disciplines mutually penetrate and cross.The link between them is increasing.Physics as a basic subject,it covers the basic principles and research methods,it penetrates in all fields of natural sciences and social sciences.Human faces many scientific and social problems,need looking for creative solutions from the multi-disciplinary perspectives.Teaching materials play an important role in the teaching activities.They are the main ground of teacher's teaching,and they are necessary for students learning.The characteristics of mutual penetration of physics and other disciplines were reflected differently in textbooks from different countries.By a comparative study on Sino-American high school physics textbooks,we can understand their respective strengths.Thus it can better serve the construction for teaching materials in our country and also can better serve our cultivation of talents.This paper did an analysis and a comparison in the cross-disciplinary aspects of the Sino-American High School Physics textbooks.It used documentary method and comparative research method.The Chinese high school physics textbook which was chosen was published by people's education press,the compulsory series of a book named PHYSICS.And the American high school physics textbook which was chosen was PHYSICS Principles and Problems;it was published by the McGraw Hill Companies.The two high school physics textbooks from America and China will be analyzed from the following aspects: the sources,the presenting forms and the meanings of interdisciplinarity.In the aspects of the sources of interdisciplinarity,two textbooks will be analyzed and compared from ways of physics crossing with other natural sciences,physics crossing with engineering and technologies,physics crossing with arts and social sciences.Finally,some points of similarity and some points of difference were summarized.And some enlightenment for our country's construction of high school physics textbooks was given.
