In recent years, the problem of school bullying has aroused the social concern widely. The literature review shows that the existing studies focus more on direct physical bullying and verbal bullying, and do not attach importance to indirect bullying such as peer rejection.Whereas peer rejection has a great negative impact on young people's physical and mental health development and, especially in middle school, tends to be one of the portents and antecedent of direct bullying,so this paper focus on middle school students and explores the mechanism of peer rejection and effective intervention measures. In this study, using the method of questionnaire investigation to 180 students of a middle school, describing the current situation of peer rejection, combined with interviews with teachers, students who were severely excluded by their peers and their classes were identified and located;then,a case study was conducted to find out the cause or mechanism of peer rejection among middle school students;finally, based on the main cause of peer rejection,an intervention trial of group cooperative learning was conducted to prevent the peer rejection in a class. The survey results show that the peer rejection behavior of this school is wide prevalence and some students troubled by this problem. The gender difference and the grade difference of peer rejection among middle school students are significant:the boys rejected by their peers more than the girls and the second-grade students rejected by their peers more than the third-grade students. They ask the teacher for help the most when they rejected. The students and teachers underestimate the negative effects of peer rejection on the rejected students and do not mind this kind of problems. The case study finds that peer exclusion was closely relate to the exclusive competition within the class and also related to personal characteristics, family environment, school environment, and the absence of teachers and parents' moral education. The rejected students,self-cognition is biased and is caught in a vicious circle of self?deception, relationship breaking and the situation becoming more and more difficult to get rid of.The intervention trial shows that the cooperative learning could improve the peer relationship and mental status of the rejected. The self-esteem of the subjects is increased and the level of loneliness decreased. The positive interaction among peers is increased and the students, attitudes to each other are changed.
