| This thesis aims at exploring and clarifying the necessity and correspondent strategies in increasing the proportion of English literature teaching in senior middle school.In view of the richness and interest of English literature,it is necessary to increase the proportion of literature teaching in senior middle school.By employing the theory of second language acquisition,foreign language reading teaching theory,teachers’discourse theory and the concept of "whole person",this study explores three core issues:1.What are the main problems of middle school English teaching?2.What are the effective teaching principles of literature teaching and how to enhance the proportion of literature teaching?3.What is the effect of literature teaching on enriching students’experience and improving human personality qualities?Based on the investigation,study and experiment of Zhejiang Cangnan Middle School,the study examined several problems in middle school English teaching.Foremost,the cultivating objective was not clear while the school focused more on student’s performance on examinations rather than personal development.Additionally,teachers neglected students’ thought exchange resulting in their lack of critical thinking.Based on literature teaching experiments,the thesis puts forward effective literature teaching principles and strategies to resolve the problems:1)a combination of literature and history 2)a combination of humanities 3)a combination of learning and thinking.The effective strategies of literature teaching are:1)task-based teaching 2)heuristic method 3)the communication approach.The study presents that the effective implementation of English literature teaching in middle school English can not only stimulate students’ English learning interest and improve students’ reading comprehension ability,but also let the "holistic education"fully develop,attributing to a real return aggregates of "humanity" in middle school English teaching. |
