There are four basic skills of English learning,which includes speaking,listening,reading and writing.English writing is the same challenge that both English teachers and students face.Nowadays,the situation of students' writing is not optimistic since various problems existing in English writing teaching.For example,students have negative attitudes toward English writing while there is not abundant time and effective teaching method for English teachers.Faced with this situation,it is necessary to explore an effective method of English writing teaching.According to Tony Buzan,Mind Mapping is an efficient tool for thinking,which can help people to collect materials,organize information as well as express their thought in the visualized way.Naturally,it is helpful to cultivate students' interest and their creation can be cultivated.Therefore,the thesis tries to apply Mind Mapping teaching method in English writing teaching in Senior High School to testify if it can increase students' writing abilities and improve the current situations.The experiment was carried out in one middle school of Shenyang and it lasted for nearly 3 months.The subjects were selected from class 3 and class 4,including respectively 44 students and 46 students.Class 3 was chosen as the Experimental Class while class 4 as the Controlled Class.At the same time,Mind Mapping teaching method was applied in EC and students in CC were still taught by traditional method of English writing.What's more,questionnaires,interviews as well as tests were adopted as the instrument during the experiment.The study mainly discussed the following two questions:(1)What is the effectiveness of Mind Mapping on senior high school students' English writing?(2)What are the changes of students' attitude after using Mind Mapping in writing teaching?According to the analysis of the results,the author finds that after applying Mind Mapping in English writing teaching,writing scores of Experimental Class are increased a lot while students from Controlled Class remain the precious writing scores.In Experimental Class,students' compositions are more creative and logical,and the phenomenon of mechanically using sentences from the book has reduced.Besides,students not only have changed their attitudes toward English writing,but also have become more active in the class.At the end of the thesis,the author also offers some suggestions for the application of Mind Mapping.
