The Reflectivity In Practice

Throughout the history of social work,it has been very practical profession since it was born,and in the practice of social work,the practitioner's reflectivity and critical thinking have always been highly emphasized.Therefore,it is obviously of great significance to pay attention to the reflexivity in the process of social work practice.Interviewing with 17 MSW students from Shanghai,this study will take the experiences of their field placement as the research object,to explore how students utilize their reflexivity to deal with individual dilemmas and environmental challenges during field placement.As the theoretical perspective of this study,reflexive practice and reflexivity will also be articulated in a framed way,which were used to be regarded as complex and ambiguous concepts.The main conclusions of current study suggest that,firstly,the reflexive practice of social work Placement is a negotiated complex process:a)it is a reflective process on professional knowledge,which involves the division between the professional and the unprofessional;b)it is an emotion-and-morality entangled process,involving "Ren Qin" and ethics;c)it is a compromising and rebellious game between individuals and kinds of power structures,involving politics and social work development;Secondly,the Students' tended choices of occupations are the direct results of the reflexive practice,and reflexive professional identity is the bridge between individual choices and environment.Furthermore,the reflexive practice of social work in China is an "embedded and developing reflexive practice",which is different from the Western reflexive practice,for it is embedded in China's political structure,economic environment and cultural background.Lastly,the reflexive practice of social work in China is still under constructing and is heading to a profession.It also has the historical mission of advancing social change,promoting social work developing as a profession and pushing the transformation of the relation between government and society in China.
