Anthropological Study Of Taoist Taiqinggong In Hohhot

The religious studies of anthropology strive to conduct a holistic study and interpretation to deepen the understanding of human's thinking,cognition,fantasy,sustenance,and the way of belief behavior associated with it.The study of religion in domestic anthropology is spread among various forms of religion,among which the study on the actual existence of Taoist places is not widely seen.Although the research on the various elements of daoism has been relatively mature,how these elements can be combined into an organic whole in reality still has a lot of excavation space.The Taiqinggong in Hohhot,Inner Mongolia is the seat of the Inner Mongolia Taoism association,which is responsible for the management of all Taoist temples in Inner Mongolia.It also has a history of hundreds of years,and is now known as the only Taoist site in Hohhot that can hold the festival.The research not only can enhance understanding of the reality of Taoism,more can test the applicability of anthropology religious theory which come from western,at the same time to better understand the function and meaning of daoism,to further excavate and exert the value of Taoist culture.This paper according to the perspective of anthropology,adopts the method of field survey,supplemented by literature research,to gives a comprehensive description and interpretation of the Taiqinggong inHohhot.The paper firstly introduces the history and present situation of Taiqinggong,including its sectarian origin,historical evolution,architectural pattern,Taoist priest and its material life.Secondly,the content of the activities for Taiqinggong are described,including monks within the learning and teaching practice and official things,Taoist and visitors to participate ZhaiJiao sacrifices,divination pick an auspicious things,doctor visits,medallion approach,interview survey,guests chatting,and visitors personal interests oriented activities alone.Finally,from the theory of anthropology,it is believed that the palace has the following features and functions:Taiqinggong's main features are: first,Taoist in the ideas of"to be immortal and get ‘dao' ","my life only decided by myself",""life is expensive",in reality they shows the attitudes of "high cold","handsome"and "to be oneself".Secondly,Taiqinggong has obvious tendency of secularization,the religious atmosphere is weak.Although this is partly due to the restriction of architectural pattern,the main reason is the flexible application of Taoist thought in real life.Third,there is a similar phenomenon of "faith" in this palace,but the goal is not the spiritual survival,but the philosophical concept of "dao".The Taoist priest and believers generally worship abilities,but the attitude toward the spiritual survival was based on equality.Fourth,the palace provides a comfortable social space,attracting visitors from all walks of life,and thus becomes a hub for news.In terms of function,the city of Taiqinggong first constructed a cultural space with thetheme of "Taoism".Secondly,it has the function of cultural inheritance and communication.The third is to comfort the soul of people,and finally to improve the quality of the spiritual life.
