Writing is a comprehensive language competence and plays an important role in English teaching and learning.However,in English teaching in high schools,writing has become a weak spot and many problems with writing teaching exist.For example,in English writing teaching,students' individual initiative is ignored and the class is still teacher-centered.Students' learning does not really take place and their thinking is restricted.In English writing teaching,more attention is paid to the contents exam-oriented,and students' writing interests disappear gradually.The above problems lead to the obstacle to improve students' writing level.How to improve English writing teaching in senior high school has become a common concern of teachers.Based on this situation,this study applied PAD Class teaching mode into English writing teaching in senior high school to stimulate students' interests,improve their writing performance,and try to provide a more effective teaching mode for English writing teaching in senior high school.PAD class is a new domestic teaching mode proposed by Professor Zhang Xuexin of Fudan University in 2013.The gist is to allocate half of the class time to teachers' presentation,and half to students for interactive learning in the form of mutual discussion.And the time of teaching and discussion is displaced,so that students can have time for individualized internalization and self-study after class.This study applied PAD class to the senior writing class.The feasibility and validity of the experiment were discussed through the comparison between the experimental class and the control class.The purpose of this study is to improve students' writing interests and performance,and further improve the teaching quality of English writing.The subjects of this study were 100 students from Class 17 and class 18 in Caoxian No.1 Middle School in Shandong Province.During the past semester,PAD class teaching mode was adopted in the experimental class and traditional teaching methods in the control class to teach English writing.The research methods of this study include questionnaire investigation,pre-test and post-test,and teaching experiments.Three research questionsare aroused:1.Can PAD class inspire students' English writing interests?2.Can PAD class enhance students' English autonomy of writing?3.Can PAD class improve students' English writing performance?The questionnaire survey results before and after the experiment indicate that the PAD class can not only improve students' interests but also enhance the their initiative in English writing.The test results show that the PAD class can also raise students' English writing scores.The research conclusion is that the PAD class is more helpful to improve students' interests,initiative and scores in English writing than the traditional teaching mode.
