On February 25,2018,based on the new situation and new practice of adhering to and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed some changes to the "Constitution of the People’s Republic of China." The constitutional amendments are justifications for Xi Jinping.The socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the era has put "ecological civilization development" and "building a beautiful China" into the goals that the country’s future development will inevitably achieve.With the rapid economic development,ecological civilization and social progress are closely linked.A good environment is an important condition for economic development and social progress.It is also an important criterion for measuring the level of civilization.At the press conference of the Fifth Session of the 12 th National People’s Congress,Minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection Chen Ji-Ning proposed that environmental issues are a major challenge for human modernization.The beautiful environment is an important human well-being,and beautiful China is an important part of the Chinese dream.The Central Government and the State Council attach great importance to the construction of ecological civilization and environmental protection.Environmental education,as the core content of the school’s ecological civilization education,plays an important role in raising students’ awareness of resource conservation and awareness of environmental protection.Environmental education originated in the United States.Over the years,the United States has been committed to cultivating students’ environmental awareness.Compared with other countries,the United States has great advantages in environmental education.Studying the environmental education of Chinese and American junior high school geography textbooks is very useful for understanding the advantages and disadvantages of the compilation of environmental education contents in the geographical textbooks of China.In the future reform of teaching materials,we can also use our strengths to avoid weaknesses and give full play to our strengths.It is important to maintain the characteristics of our teaching materials while drawing on the excellentparts of American textbooks and improving them.The author uses the interview method and the literature method to study the current situation of junior high school environmental education in China,and compares and analyzes the junior high school geography teaching materials of the People’s Education Press and the science explorers of the mainstream junior science textbooks in the United States.The scientific explorers include "Weather and Climate" and "On the Earth"."The Water","Evolution of the Earth’s Surface," and "Environmental Science." Four textbooks on geography-related courses(hereinafter referred to as geography).The author analyzes the structural design,graphic system,activity cases,and knowledge extensions for the junior high school geography curriculum.The preparation of reforms and new teaching materials proposed innovative proposals such as enriching the design of the structure,optimizing the graphic system,increasing the number of activity cases,and expanding the knowledge extension,so that the environmental education in China can be better developed.
