Designing A Small Scale Low Cost Wireless Sensor Network Security Model

Our thesis involved simulating an algorithm that is both security and energy efficiency for small scale operations and deployment. We then evaluated the cost in terms of energy and implementation results against other existing algorithms.Our scheme is built upon the unique integration of the MAC-address and the node ID to function as distributed keys and the RSSI –Distance relation to manage the energy through shortest route possible and dropping out of suspicious nodes from routing information. We proved the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed scheme by a comprehensive qualitative analysis of its ability to serve energy by finding the shortest possible route to minimise transmission energy which is usually three times more than computational energy required for a packet and ability to reject bogus data by dropping out those nodes suspected to carry bogus information hence serving up more energy at the same time providing security.
