Analysis Of Regional Economic Differences In Meizhou City

A regional economic disparity is a common problem while many scholars hold different views towards it. Since the reform and opening policy, the economic development of Guangdong Province has made great achievements as the "bridgehead". With the adjustment of the global economic and industrial structure, as well as the welfare of our population, the economy is gradually entering a transformation. Guangdong province faces many economic problems although it is the largest economy in our country, including inter-regional economic imbalances. Meizhou is a mountainous city which lies in the northwest of eastern Guangdong. It is of great significance to research about the underdeveloped mountainous interior of regional economic discrepancy in developed provinces from the microscopic perspective. It can not only provide recommendations for the development of regional economy for other mountainous city in Northwest of eastern Guangdong, but also has important practical significance for the revitalization of mountainous region in northwest of eastern Guangdong.After a review of the extensive literature papers on regional economic differentials, I had a comprehensive analysis by using a measurement which combines absolute difference and relative difference. I selected the measuring indexes of per capita GDP, per capita net income of famers, per capita income of urban and rural residents and other indicators, respectively, using the mean, range, standard deviation and others absolute difference measuring methods and extreme slip, coefficient of variation, the Gini coefficient and others relative measuring methods towards Meizhou eight counties(cities, districts) in Meizhou city. Differences in economic development were analyzed. By calculation and analysis, I got two conclusions. The first one is the regional differences in overall economy among 8 counties(cities, districts) in Meizhou is small, but it trends gradually expanded in recent years. Second, the economic differentials of the per capita income of the urban and rural and Gini coefficient of variation are much greater than the difference of per capita net income of famers. it preliminary notes, the difference between urban and rural areas is the main contribution to regional economic differences of Meizhou city.Through further analysis, this paper analyzes the reasons of regional economic differences in the 8 counties(cities, districts) of Meizhou city in the aspects of historical basis, differences in population, differences in industrial structure, fixed investment and regional differences. At the same time, according to the recent condition and the status of the development, this article puts forward the idea of the harmonious development of regional economy in Meizhou city. namely, use the moderate ?non-balanced development? strategy, accelerate the improvement of the efficiency of economic development; cultivate and develop pillar industries, narrow the gap in County economic, grasp "two preferential policies", strengthen the infrastructure construction and transportation; strive for the "three rural" brand, grasp the investment, optimize the transfer of labor, support the development of MeiXinghuaFeng Industrial Park, promote the comprehensive reform of rural, do the green "three agricultural" well, strengthen the professional training of workers, help the industrial upgrading, find special tourism resources, expand the tourism industry and other measures.
