With the development of economy and the continuous progress of urbanization, the regional energy consumption is increasing, causing the increase demand for energy. China's long-term economic growth depends on the high consumption and high investment mode, resulting in the inefficiency of energy use. Under the severe energy structure, China urgently needs to allocate the energy usage and improve the efficiency of energy use.The development of economy leads to the phenomenon of spatial agglomeration of economic activities. From the existing research, this kind of economic agglomeration is an inevitable outcome of economic growth, furthermore, the economic agglomeration and energy intensity have a certain relevance. In addition, by studying the relevant literature, we can find that the research on energy intensity at home and abroad is biased in favor of the time trend, ignoring the influence of the spatial effect. Resource endowments and economic conditions are different in China, which leads to the different use of energy. Therefore, this paper considers the effect of economic agglomeration on energy intensity from the perspective of space.According to the definition of economic agglomeration and energy intensity, this paper firstly analyzes the relationship between economic agglomeration and energy intensity in theory, and discusses the mechanism of economic agglomeration on energy intensity. Through the discussion of the theoretical part, this paper thinks that the economic agglomeration can effectively improve the allocation of resources, thereby reducing energy intensity. Combined with theoretical analysis, this paper takes the areas of our country as the research object and selects the nine indicators to describe economic agglomeration. After using principal component analysis method to evaluate the economic agglomeration degrees in various regions of our country, tnis paper uses the spatial econometric analysis modeling method to analyze the effect of economic agglomeration on energy intensity. Space effect includes spatial correlation and spatial heterogeneity, this paper starts from this two aspects, then, sets up the spatial auto regression model and GWR model to examine the economic agglomeration effect on energy intensity. Spatial autoregressive model results show that economic agglomeration can effectively reduce the energy intensity. Moreover, there is an obvious spatial correlation on energy intensity between adjacent area.GWR model also verifies the impact of economic agglomeration on energy intensity, and it also shows that the impact of economic agglomeration on energy intensity in different regions is different. Finally, based on the empirical results, this paper puts forward policy recommendations to reduce the intensity of energy.
