With the rapid development of economy, the construction market is changing with each passing day and the competition is more stiff, so the cost management has been paid more and more attention. Cost engineers, as the important implementer of cost management, are vital important to the development of the enterprise, the country and the community. Cost engineer's job satisfaction involves his own working passion, working attitude, working efficiency, quality of the achievement, career development and so on, then greatly affects the cost engineering indertry of our country.Therefore, the job satisfaction of cost engineer is worth studying, and the improvement of job satisfaction is worth exploring.First of all, this paper has a very good analysis on the related concepts and theories. Based on the literature references, experts interviews and induction, the measurement model of cost engineer's job satisfaction is carefully designed. The cost engineers' job satisfaction has been investigated from five dimensionalities: the welfare, social factors, work itself, leaders and colleagues and self-actualization. And the samples are widely distributed and reasonable, which ensures the objectivity and scientific nature of the survey's result.Then, this paper makes analyses of the measurement results by using SPSS19.0 software. The survey results are descriptive analyzed, obtaining the situation of the cost engineer's job satisfaction: Cost engineers in China are satisfied with the working situation, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. The survey results are differential analyzed, obtaining the relationship between job satisfaction and basic information: gender, professional title and work experience, have no effect on the job satisfaction; marital status, work years, institution types have significant effects to some dimensionalities of job satisfaction, and effects of age, education, income, the company location can reached significant level on the job satisfaction. The survey results have been correlation analyzed, obtaining the three main dimensionalities: self-actualization, social factors, leaders and colleagues & the ten main factors: self-satisfaction, national policy, personal development, leader relations, department coordination, hobbies, social status, competitive income, ratio of income and effort,leadership.Finally, this paper analyzes the primary cause of cost engineers' job satisfaction. Based on the primary cause, suggestions to improve the cost engineers' job satisfaction have been proposed from the government, industry associations, enterprise, colleges and cost engineers.
