Traditional culture as the starting point and end point of the traditional pension thought is a precious spiritual and cultural wealth in China. It is because of this, however, farmers' willingness to participate has been low since the formal implementation of the primary endowment insurance for urban and rural resident in February 2014.In order to study the influence of the factors, such as traditional culture on farmers' participation willingness, Based on 939 valid questionnaires of some natural administrative villages in Xinjian County, Nanchang, we took the descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and two element Logistic regression analysis to analyze the factors affecting farmers' willingness to participate in insurance empirically. The aim of this study is to provide solid basis of the development of the primary endowment insurance, furthermore, with the expectation of provide support for the further improvement of the primary endowment insurance. The results illustrate that: the age, and the education level affect the participating of willingness of residents negatively; both the number of children and the labor, and the economic situation of the family have the negative effects on the participating of willingness of residents as well. The obedience to authority, the seniority and rules of the family, and the consciousness of the gods correlate to the participating willingness of residents negatively. However, the self sacrifice, caring parents, the conscious of reputation, the hierarchy of the family affected the participation willingness of residents positively. Based on these research results, and combined the situation of Xinjian County, we proposed some relevant suggestions about how to improve the development of the primary endowment insurance for urban and rural residents.
