The Research On Consumption Behavior Of Rural Residents In Shanxi Province

Consumption is the motive force behind economic development. Faced with the increasing downward pressure of Chinese economy and the weakness of rural residents’ consumption demand, it has become a decisive factor to improve the rural residents’ willingness to consume for the sustainable and healthy development of national economy. As one of the less-developed provinces of central regions, rural residents are the largest consumer group in Shanxi Province. Therefore, to actively guide and expand the rural residents’ consumption plays an important role in economic growth, and may also provide reference for the development of other regions.Based on the rural residents’ consumption behavior in Shanxi Province, by study methods including literature research, comparative analysis, combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis, and with reference to researches on consumer behavior at home and abroad, this essay will give descriptive analysis to the long-term trends and characteristics of rural residents’ consumption behavior in Shanxi Province from the aspects of consumption level and consumption structure:to analysize the consumption level of rural residents in Shanxi Province by the contrast of consumption between rural residents and urban residents in Shanxi Province as well as that of the whole nation; to analysize the consumption structure of rural residents in Shanxi Province based on the changing trend of the consumption of eight major classes. Then, from the aspects of income, interest rate, fiscal expenditure for agriculture, consumption environment, social security, structure of rural population and consumption concept, the essay will discuss influencing elements of rural residents’ consumption in Shanxi Province, and to build logarithmic model to give an empirical analysis of consumption behavior of rural residents in Shanxi Province based on related data from 2000 to 2014. At last, the author will propose corresponding measures and suggestions to promote the consumption of rural residents in Shanxi Province.
