| As a large shipper,S Corporation established its own international shipping business H Corporatiew in order to have a better control of sea-transportation.As an NVOCC,H Corporation is mainly engaged in tramp shipping which is full of risks resulting from Charter Party,loading&discharging process and sea-transportation etc.In this case,it is necessary for H Corporation to take a research on various risks facing H Corporation and to come up with scientific approaches to manage those risks for the purpose of developing its business in a better way.For the time being,nationwide researches on crisis of NVOCC's tramp shipping business stay on preliminary level,which lacks systematic principles and methods.Also,they focus more on theories rather than practical cases and approaches,therefore,they cannot provide pragmatic guidance effectively to the crisis management of sea-transportation.In view of the above,this article starts from H Corporation's tramp shipping business.It then analyzes different kinds of sea-transportation risks facing H Corporation.What's more,it goes to come up with approaches of how to avoid or mitigate those risks.This article firstly introduces basic concepts of crisis management,it then has a look into H Corporation's business and deeply analyzes the main crisis(including but not limited to risks on sea,social environmental risks,financial risks,port congestion risks,loading&discharging risks,Bill of lading signing risks and Charter Party clauses risks),on the basis of which,this article goes on to put forward a series of pragmatic approaches of how to avoid or mitigate the risks with practical experiences.After that,the article builds a management system of risk indicators and gets experts involved to evaluate and rate the influence and possibility of each risk.Finally this article comes up with management strategies of sea-transportation,hoping to provide guidance on to other NVOCC who are engaged in tramp shipping for managing sea-transportation risks. |
