With the continuous development of economic globalization, trades between countries become closer, in which transportation provides convenient conditions to the international trade. Maritime transportation is one of the transportation which plays an important role in international trade by characteristics of huge transport volume and low unit transportation cost. Maritime transportation bear more than 85% international trade, with tramp shipping occupying the most market share.The purpose of this study is to help shipping companies to choose the transport opportunities between large numbers and different ways of transport opportunities in the market, and help shipping companies to get the most economic benefit and improve decision-making level of management with limited operating capabilities.The factors that need to be considered in the tramp shipping were complicated, which consisted of navigational state and time of cargo loading/unloading in voyage charter, navigational state and time of ship delivery/redelivery and ship dynamics in time charter. In order to facilitate the representation of various factors, this paper applied the time-space network to assist the charter opportunity selection model construction. This paper established a tramp shipping market the opportunity to choose the model of transport, since the research question is mainly for short-term plan, therefore the way the model charter considered included voyage charter, as well as short-term charter flight time charter. The model took into account the different influences of chartering on capacity usage and cost, and took maximize profits in the planning horizon for the target. Finally, the paper took a tramp shipping company as an example, and made analysis. The results show that this method can guide shipping companies on opportunities for charter, by which the shipping companies can obtain more profits.
