In electronic manufacturing industry, the competition turns to be tougher than even before. The customers expect the product not only with the low price, but also with the high-quality and service. Proper quality management system will enable the organization to be stronger to win the market competition and customer expectation. It improves the production end to end product yield and output quantity, reduces the scrap rate, and also enhances market competitive capability.Quality management systems can assist organizations in enhancing customer satisfaction. Customers require products with characteristics that satisfy their needs and expectations. These needs and expectations are expressed in product specifications and collectively referred to as customer requirements. Customer requirements may be specified contractually by the customer or may be determined by the organization itself. In either case, the customer ultimately determines the acceptability of the product. Because customer needs and expectations are changing, and because of competitive pressures and technical advances, organizations are driven to improve continually their products and processes.To lead and operate an organization successfully, it is necessary to direct and control quality in a systematic and transparent manner. Success can result from implementing and maintaining a management system that is designed to continually improve performance while addressing the needs of all interested parties. Managing an organization encompasses quality management amongst other management disciplines.Flextronics quality management system was set up in 20 years ago. With the market developing, this system shall be kept updating and optimizing on some loopholes. The emphasis of this thesis is to figure out the advantages vs disadvantages, challenges vs opportunities of the quality management system at Flextronics industrial park during the tough economic conditions since 2008, so as to propose some countermeasures of improvement for the previous quality management system. Meanwhile, the case that the author chooses is a typical one which can provide solid analysis and references for other electronic manufacturing firms' continuous improvement of quality system.
