In order to improve the reasonability and efficiency of PDC bit design,a reverse analysis technique of PDC bit cutter parameters has been developed and discussed in this paper.The research includes four aspects:point cloud data processing,CAD model reconstruction of cutters,reverse calculation of cutter parameters and optimization design of cutter parameters.The original PDC bit is the mature bit or the defective bit which cannot have ideal performance.The non-contact 3D scanning technique has been used to obtain the point cloud data for the original bit.The point cloud data processing,the structural feature segmentation and CAD model reconstruction of cutters has been realized based on PCL(Point C1 oudLibrary)which is an open source programming library.The PDC bit cutter parameters are calculated based on the reconstructed CAD model.The process of the reverse calculation is also referred to as deducing design parameters.According to the PDC bit cutter parameters,we used the simulation model to analyze the reasonability of cutter parameters.For the results,according to the optimization model of wear rate and lateral force,the PDC bit cutter parameters were optimized.The results of the simulation model and the actual performance of the bit provide theoretical foundation to the optimization design of cutter parameters.According to the mature optimization ideas and optimization models,the equal cutting volume optimization model,equal wear rate optimization model and lateral force optimization model have been established.Taking a PDC bit as example,the error of the reconstructed model and the reverse calculation parameters have been analyzed by the 3D inspection software.According to the optimization model of wear rate and lateral force,the PDC bit cutter parameters have been optimized.The actual drilling parameters of the optimized PDC bit and the original PDC bit have been analyzed.The ROP of optimized PDC bit increased by 16%and the drilling depth increased by 24%.The research results show that:The calculated parameters of cutters are accurate.Meanwhile,the optimized PDC bit has better performance.The reverse analysis technique of PDC bit cutter parameters provide a new design idea for the PDC bit customized design.
