In this research,use the physical-chemical combination method to extract the bamboo fiber(bundle fiber)from the outer of bamboo strips with the different aged(1 age-degree,2 age-degree,3 age-degree,4 age-degree,)bamboo as raw material.The performances(such as morphology,chemical composition and properties,etc.)were studied.Meanwhile,the properties of bamboo were investigated,including internodes length of culms,the culm wall thickness,the internodes diameter and the mechanical properties(tensile strength and aired density)of outer of bamboo strips at different ages and zones.In order to predict the mechanical properties of fiber with the mechanical properties of fiber,the relationships of mechanical properties between the outer of bamboo strips and outer of bamboo fiber were studied.Results of this study were as follows.The strength(451.82MPa)and strength stability(coefficient of variation 23%)of bamboo fiber which extracted from 1 age-degree bamboo are the lowest,and the extraction rate of 1 age-degree bamboo is only about 5%,so it is not suitable for extracting fiber.The age and the culm height have a remarkable effect on the bamboo.Along the culm height,the internodes length of culms and the internodes diameter are conformed to third linear fitting relationship,and the culm wall thickness is conformed to second linear fitting relationship.The age and the culm height have a remarkable effect on the outer of bamboo strips 'density and tensile strength.Under air-dried condition,the density and tensile strength increase first and then decrease with the increase of age.Along the culm height,the air-dried density and tensile strength are conformed to second linear fitting relationship.The results show the variation in different-degree outer of bamboo fibers as follows.With the increase of year,the content non-hemicelluloses decreases.The content of wax increases with the increase of year,and the content of water-soluble,pectin,hemi-cellulose,lignin increase first and then decrease.The content of cellulose decreases first and then increases with the increase of year.The moisture regains decreases first and then increase with the year increase,among which the 3 age-degree fiber has the smallest moisture regain(13.49%),and the moisture regain of 4 age-degree(14.24%)is biggest.The fiber density increase first and then decrease with the increase of the year,among which the fiber density of 4 age-degree(1.53g/cm3-1.61g/Cm3)is smallest,and the fiber density of 3 age-degree(1.59g/cm-1.73 g/cm)is biggest.In the top and middle portions of culms height,the fiber fineness increase with the year increase.And in the basic portion of culms height,the fiber fineness increase first and then decrease.In the top and basic portions of culms height,the tensile strength decrease with the year increase.And in the middle portion of culms height,the tensile strength increase.Fiber property variations along culm height are as follows.With the height increase,the content of non-hemicelluloses increases.The content of wax increases first and then decreases with the increase of height.The content of pectin decrease first and then increase with the increase of height.The moisture regains decrease first and then increase with the increase of height.The fiber density increases with the increase of height.The fineness of 2 year-degree fiber decreases first and then increases,at last tends to be stable.The fineness of 3 year-degree fiber decreases first and then keeps in a value,at last increase.The fiber fineness of 4 year-degree fiber decreases first and then keeps in a value.The tensile strength of 3 year-degree fiber keeps in a value with the increase of height.Compared with the performance of outer of bamboo strip(OBS)and outer of bamboo fiber(OBF),the outer of bamboo fiber's density is 2 times of the outer of bamboo's.The tensile strength of OBF is 1.6-2.2 times of the strength of OBS.The density and tensile strength of OBF and OBS are conformed to linear fitting relationship.
