| The steel industry,which has created huge wealth but released volume of pollutants into the air,consumes a large amount of resource and energy,and will be restricted seriously by resource shortage and environment issue in future.The importance of protecting environment hasn't been emphasized by the insiders until the 1970 s,but has leaded to tremendous environmental improvements during 40-year developing,although various contaminants are still discharged nowadays.Researching on how to decease pollutant emission would achieve sustainable developing and contribute to environmental improvement.Ningbo Iron and Steel Co Ltd,locates in the administrative region of Ningbo city,has introduced several environmental protection techniques to solve waste emission issue.Technique of bonding plenty of converter sludge into pellet has been adopted to avoid influences on residents around.In this paper,Converter sludge is researched;Cold-bonded Pellet Project is introduced including the reason and the construction process;utilization of the converter sludge and environmental improvement after operation are illustrated;and the development of converter sludge treatment is discussed.Converter sludge contains amount of iron and calcium which is valuable for recovery.Cold-bonded Pellet Project was achieved by strict control in progress,cost and quality of construction.Environment pollution and limited space by storage were resolved,and,as coolant,cold-bonded pellet could substitute small size sinter,which decreases the cost of steel-making process and makes the company more competitive.Besides,this paper could provide experiences for other iron and steel enterprises,have an effect on reaching the standard of discharge and achieving sustainable development for the steel industry. |
