High Voltage Transmission Line Traveling Wave Fault Location commonly based on current traveling waves,but to some special wiring structure,the voltage traveling wave offers advantages over current traveling waves,but the poor transmission characteristic of high frequency makes it more difficult for capacitor voltage transformer CVT to extract voltage traveling wave.Base on the available information,the paper proposes a method to extract voltage traveling wave based on capacitive current of CVT,study and design the traveling-wave sensor to extract voltage traveling wave.By mass analysis and researchs on the basic principles of the Rogowski coil,transformission characteristics and error,combining with practical engineering needs,designed and produced the traveling-wave sensor for transforming high-frequency signal,and made a series of test and analysis to prove that it has good performance on high-frequency on transforming,Finally,install the traveling-wave sensor and traveling wave fault location device in a particular station,debug it,let it operate correctly,and then the device captured the switching traveling wave signal of power plant.By the comparative analysis of the data,proved voltage traveling wave can be extrated feasibly by CVT capacitor current and the traveling-wave sensor has a good performance 'on high-frequency transforming,it is suitable for transforming of fault traveling wave signaland voltage traveling wave fault location.
