Rainfall is one of the important factors to induce slope stability, which brings enormous threat and loss to human life and property. The analysis of the effect of rain infiltration on slope safety has great significance for correct understanding of slope instability. With the rapid development requirement of national economy, city construction and road extension, the safety of the slope engineering is increasingly prominent. As the clay slope is easily influenced by rainfall, in order to study the influence of rainfall infiltration to clay slope, this article uses clay as the research object to explore the rule of slope infiltration under different rainfall conditions with the indoor model. And ABAQUS is used to analyze the model comparison at the same time. Researching the model under the condition of rainfall for a long time, the change of saturation line inside the slope and the saturation at each point of foot path is get. And according to the degree of saturation line to partition the model, strength reduction method is used to analyze the change rule of slope safety factor under different conditions. The main content is as follows:1. Using direct shear test to obtain the shear strength of clay under different water content; using negative pressure meter to obtain the matrix suction of soil under different water content, then getting the relationship between matrix suction and saturation.2. By comparing the test data(data obtained from water content and pore water pressure sensors) to analyze the process of slope infiltration thought self-manufacture artificial rainfall device, finally getting the variation rule of the slope under the same rainfall duration and rainfall intensity.3. Using the principle of similarity, the model is established in the finite element software ABAQUS. Then analysis and comparison the test data and the simulation data are done. The rainfall infiltration rule of the slope of 30 degree,45 degree and 60 degree is analyzed under the condition of long time rainfall. When saturated, the distance X between the lateral saturation line and the slope line display certain change rules with the change of slope. On the whole, the bigger the slope gradient, the smaller the distance X between the lateral saturation line and the slope line when the slope height is decrease.4. According to the above method, the saturation distribution of slope is get. Partitioning the slope model, material properties after the partition of model are respectively given. Then using the finite element software ABAQUS to analyze strength subtraction, the slope safety coefficient variation rules is get. It is found that the bigger the slope gradient, the greater the relative changes in the safety factor value, which illustrated the effect of rainfall infiltration on steep slopes stability is the bigger.According to the law by analyzing the rainfall infiltration, the influence of rainfall on slope stability is obtained. By analyzing the critical angle and critical rainfall of slope failure, and planning to set up a corresponding database, an early warning on the safety of the slope is obtained.
