Because of the existence of various abnormal vibration and wear in the large marine propulsion shafting system, it is difficult to explain in a single linear theory. The stern bearing in marine power system and its operation performance directly affects the ship propulsion system performance, so it is necessary to study on the lubrication characteristics of ship stern bearing.The first part of this paper describes the lubrication characteristics of ship stern bearing of theoretical significance and practical value, introduces the domestic and foreign research on lubrication characteristics of a journal bearing related methods and conclusions, with fluid lubrication theory, stern shaft lubrication calculation of boundary conditions, dynamic static load, axial trajectory, carrying capacity were reviewed in the radial direction the sliding bearing lubrication characteristics of the research direction and progress, and put forward the research content of this paper.The second part is to establish a mathematical model of lubrication stern bearing tilt,developed the FORTRAN solution programe, the shafting shaft diameter of the tilting effect on bearing load calculation of the ship, get some inclination, oil film pressure, film thickness and maximum film pressure point position parameters, analysis of the bearing shaft the diameter is inclined, the bearing oil film thickness, so that the oil film pressure distribution changes, then the impact on bearing load.The third part is to establish a calculation model of dynamic load under the stern shaft axis trajectory, analyzes several calculation methods of solving the orbit theory, the non steady load, stern shaft axis curve, and analyzed the operation state of stern shaft.The fourth part is to establish a calculation model of ship stern bearing lubrication characteristics of Reynolds boundary conditions based on the analysis of the four conditions of speed, width, stern shaft diameter inclination angle and different load conditions, the non steady load, stern bearing eccentricity, the maximum oil film pressure and thickness of lubrication parameters. And the analysis of the running condition of stern shaft.The fifth part is to establish a dynamic mathematical model of load bearing capacity under the stern bearing, FORTRAN numerical calculation, analysis of the stern bearing in different speed, tilt angle, carrying capacity to impact on the operation of the bearing stability are analyzed.The sixth part summarizes the work of this paper, points out the deficiencies and the need for further study of the content and outlook.
