Research On The Interior Design Of Teahouses Based On Guanzhong Regional Culture

As an age-old industry, teahouse traced back to Wei Jin South and North dynasties. It sprung up from cradle to popularization, and then experienced vicissitude and renaissance with the social and historical change. From the development of teahouse, we could find China’s teahouse cultural is varied and graceful in many aspects, such as site selection, the main architectural style, display and layout, the way and content of operation, and social function.Recently, with the economic and social development, China’s tea industry has been thrived gradually, and teahouse became an important place for leisure and recreation. Due to the diversification of teahouse’s social function, the classification of teahouse become varied. However, under the impact of economic globalization, as result the architectural styles in the world tend to alike, and the character of national identities weaken than ever. This phenomenon leads to the interior design of teahouse lacking of deeper cultural expression, and teahouses from different districts present alike design. At present stage, there are not many documents about the relationship between regional culture and interior design of teahouse, Based on above conditions, the thesis mainly studies how to present culture of central Shaanxi district in teahouse design.This thesis has six parts, the first part is chapter one, which illustrates the background and significance of the study, existing research in related field, research methods and contents. By introducing the origin, development and conditions of teahouse in the central Shaanxi districtand its tea culture history, chapter two, the second part of the thesis, studies development background in the central Shaanxi district and essence of Chinese teahouse. The third part is chapter three that emphasis on five aspectsin the central Shaanxi district:the natural environment, dwellings’ character and their interior ornaments, folk culture, and aesthetics standards, and finally generalizes central Shaanxi district’s cultural character. The fourth part consists of chapter four and chapter four, which combinesteahouse designand central Shaanxi district’s cultural character, then obtains specific principles and methods with real examples. Besides, taking excellent teahouse designs as examples, the thesis analyses their design methods and central Shaanxi district’s cultural character forms of art. The fifth part is chapter six, which puts design principles and methods that discussed in the last part into the author’s design, and analyses design background, design thought,expression methods of district’s cultural character, and spatial arrangement. At last, chapter seven concludes the whole thesis. Through the practice of combining teahouse design and district’s character, this thesisaims to indicate directions for the further studies in related field.
