The Effect Of Continuous Laser Irradiation On The Performance Parameters Of Three-junction GaAs Solar Cells

The triple junction GaAs solar cells are regarded as main power of satellite spacecraft,because of their high photoelectric efficiency,strong irradiation resistance,and high temperature resistance.They carry the important responsibility to power spacecraft.Since the cells in space easily become the target of the laser weapon,it’s significant to study the performance parameters effect of solar cells irradiated by laser.This paper researches the performance parameters effect of the triple junction GaAs solar cells irradiated by continuous laser.Firstly,the main electric performance parameters of solar cells are briefly introduced.The basic theory of interaction between laser and semiconductor is introduced.Then the experiment of cells irradiated by continuous laser is carried out.The temperature and output voltage of cells are measured momentarily during the laser irradiation.And I-V curves of cells are measured and compared before and after irradiation.The electric parameters(short-circuit current-Isc、open circuit voltage-Voc、fill factor-FF and effectiveness-η)can be obtained from I-V curves.The control variable method is used in experiment,laser parameters(laser power density and time of laser irradiation)and environment(vacuum or air)changing one variable researches the effect of solar cell.The performance parameter of cells drop by continuous laser irradiated can be obtained.The temperature rises and the output voltage and the main electric performance parameters drops.The cause of performance parameter droop of cells is analysed.And several ways of continuous laser induced cells damage are discussed.The performance parameters effect of solar cells irradiated by continuous laser is studied,that can be provided reference basis for laser wireless energy transmission or cells damaged by laser and cells protection in space.
