Tertiary industry in China witnessed explosion over 20 years, the life-oriented service industries and knowledge-based service industries are also not exceptional. These industries tend to gather in urban centers to help change and restructure space structures of the urban centers,as well as accelerate the development of urban cities in functional structures and scale. While in the middle and later periods of urbanization in China, the space resources of most urban centers show a intensively increasing tendency, causing significant urban and rural structure adjustment, and the city as a core area of the city, will play an important role in urban and rural structure adjustment. With the rapid development of economy,a series of issues occur in urban centers of Lanzhou such as environmental degradation, traffic jam,the development intensity, the building density, the homogenization of the business formats, lack of public space, etc.,and become increasingly worse. It results from limitation of valley terrain and lack of systematically guiding policy in constructing.Through optimizing space structures of urban centers, the overall environment quality will be improved and thus provide a carrier for rational distribution of city features in urban centers.Hence, this article researches the evolution of functions and space structures of urban centers in Lanzhou with a purpose of figuring out the law of development, proposing optimizing strategies and making contribution to city construction. The author first to reach on the related theory and practice of urban centers and spacce structure, analysis the research status about the city center and the space structure at home and abroad, and mature theory about the functional structure of the central area, the general trend of development of central made a summary and forecast, clear the general trend of development of central made a summary and forecast, clear the elements of space structure and the function of the city structure and classification,as well as the interaction relations between the central function and spatial structure, namely the functional relationship between adjustment and structural adjustment. The author then uses the historical analysis method, based on the calendar version of Lanzhou city planning and various historical data analysis of spatial structure evolution of urban spatial structure in Lanzhou and the city of Lanzhou city center district history, discusses the driving factors of the evolution of the spatial structure, there are(1)The reform of city land use system;(2)City planning policy guidance;(3)The process of city;(4)Industrial enterprises;(5)City residents. After this, the author analyzes the main problems existing in the current situation of the Lanzhou city, the central area of the function status and overall planning and other related planning and development of the central area of the centralarea, combine with the development trend of the general function, transformation of the Lanzhou city center were analyzed,to determine the function of the center of Lanzhou.Through the above analysis, the author puts forward the starting point of optimization of the overall space structure of Lanzhou City Center District,namely(1)Establish the concept of development;(2)Establish the concept of culture;(3)The establishment of ecological view;(4)Establish a system update view. The main contents and methods of optimization strategies to optimize the spatial structure of Lanzhou City Center District,namely(1)To adjust the city center area structure development mode;(2)Establish a solid skeleton-axis nuclear structure;(3)Establish xu skeleton-open space structure;(4)The actual construction of the central area of the skeleton space order.
