Objective To study the distribution of TCM constitution in patients with Ischemic Cerebrovascular Disease and to investigate the correlation between TCM constitution and cerebral arterial stenosis. This research would provide theoretical basis for prevention and treatment of TCM in Ischemic Cerebrovascular Disease. Methods The investigation included 297 patients with Ischemic Cerebrovascular Disease who accorded with the inclusive criteria. We conducted a questionnaire survey on the patients by using the standard of TCM constitution, all the patients underwent aortic arch and cerebral angiography, and these data were analyzed. The research was divided into three parts:1?Analyze the distribution of TCM constitution in patients with ICVD.2?Figure out the characteristics of cerebral artery stenosis in patients with ICVD by analyzing the Digital Subtraction Angiography(DSA)information,3?Analyze data collected from patients with ICVD.Apply the statistical analysis on the correlation between cerebral artery stenosis and TCM constitution. We performed Logistic binary regression analysis on the correlation between cerebral artery stenosis and TCM constitution. On the other hand, analyze the relationship between positional distribution of cerebral arterial stenosis and TCM constitution, study the association between degree of stenosis and TCM constitution.Results1.297 patients with ICVD were enrolled in the study. The survey found that phlegm-dampness constitution(91 cases,30.6%)is the most common type of TCM constitution of patients with ICVD,followed by qi-deficiency constitution(48cases,16.2%),blood stasis constitution(48cases,16.2%),yin-deficiency constitution(35cases,11.8%)and damp-heat constitution(31cases,10.4%).2.A total of 297 ICVD patients underwent cerebral angiography, and 238(80.1%)had cerebral arterial stenosis,of which 81(34.03%)were extracranial lesions,90(37.82%)were intracranial lesions, and 67(28.15%)were intracranial and extracranial lesions;110(46.22%)were anterior circulation lesions,38(15.96%)were posterior circulation lesions, and 90(37.82%)were anterior and posterior circulation lesions.3.Analysis of Logistic regression suggested that phlegm-dampness constitution(OR=5.028,95%CI 1.924?13.145,P=0.001),blood stasis constitution(OR=7.689,95%CI 1.626?36.361,P=0.010),age(OR=4.348,95%CI 1.99-9.498,P=0.000),the histories of hypertension(OR=5.860,95%CI 1.21?28.323,P=0.028),diabetes(OR=7.041,95%CI 2.916?17.002,P=0.000),dyslipidemia(OR=3.295,95%CI 1.44?7.539,P=0.005)and smoking(OR=4.341,95%CI 1.829?10.299,P=0.001)were the independent risk factors for cerebral artery stenosis.4.Compared with normal constitution,qi-deficiency constitution,yin-deficiency constitution,phlegm-dampness constitution and damp-heat constitution, there were significant differences in the distribution of cerebral arterial stenosis of intracranial or extracranial in blood stasis constitution(P<0.001),which indicated that the occurrence of extracranial arterial stenosis was more higher than that of intracranial artery in patients with blood stasis constitution;compared with qi-deficiency constitution,yin-deficiency constitution and damp-heat constitution, there were significant differences in the distribution of cerebral arterial stenosis of intracranial or extracranial in phlegm-dampness constitution(P<0.001),wich indicated that the occurrence of intracranial artery stenosis was more higher than that of extracranial artery in patients with phlegm-dampness constitution.5.The degrees of cerebral arterial stenosis were divided into mild, moderate, severe and block,we can found that with the increase of degree of stenosis, the proportion of blood stasis constitution increased significantly.6.Then we divided the degrees of cerebral arterial stenosis into two groups:mild-moderate and severe-block.Statistical analysis showed that, compared with normal constitution,qi-deficiency constitution,yin-deficiency constitution,phlegm-dampness constitution and damp-heat constitution, there were significant differences in the degree of cerebral arterial stenosis in blood stasis constitution(P<0.001),which indicated that patients with blood stasis constitution had more serious stenosis.Conclusion1.Phlegm-dampness constitution is the most common type of TCM constitution of ICVD,followed by qi-deficiency constitution, blood stasis constitution,in-deficiency constitution and damp-heat constitution.2.Phlegm-dampness constitution and blood stasis constitution were the independent risk factors for cerebral artery stenosis;3.TCM constitution of patients with ICVD was associated with positional distribution and degree of the cerebral artery stenosis.
