Zhongjing Zhang, the medical sage of Han dynasty,is the author of Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease which has laid the foundation of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and treatment. The differentiation of six channels is the most essential part of the academic ideas in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease. In TCM theories and clinical practice, the meridian system and the differentiation of six channels are vital and commonly used as well. The meridian system is not only used for acupuncture treatment but also an important part of the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine. It is widely valued by the doctors of the past dynasties and its main principles are also presented in the works of many ancient famous physicians. The differentiation of six channels is the theoretical core of the decoction treatment. These two theoretical systems not only have their own characteristics but also have a high degree of integration. There has been no relevant monograph about the differentiation of six channels in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease studied from the perspective of the meridian theory so far.But both of two theories appear respectively in single system. Therefore, discussing the relevance between the meridian theory and the differentiation of six channels in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease will be of great academic value.Research purpose: the previous physicians interpreted Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease mostly from the view of foot meridian.By comparison, the interpretations from the perspective of the hand meridian are rather rare.Foot meridian and hand meridian actually belong to one meridian.Researches which mainly focus on foot meridians are not perfect. So this paper will discuss the differentiation of six channels of Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease from the perspective of twelve channels and collaterals so as to improve the clinical efficiency.Research methods: the method of literature research will be adopted in this paper. The textual research on the foot arm 11 veins of Yin and Yang jiu(later referred to as the "arm"),the 11 pulse acupuncture the Yin and Yang "(later referred to as" Yin and Yang "),Note: this book is a silk book unearthed in Mawangdui jia and the yi,Zhang Jia Shan Han Jane said the book bing.Huang di nei jing(later referred to as " nei jing)three medical literature in the meridian theory given priority to and theories of different schools. In another aspect,We recognize and analyze differentiation of six channels from the writing intention and discusses evolved. One of the main versions of the literature is to select the popular version of academia: "Ancient medical books in Mawangdui",Ma Xuxing, published in November 1991 in Hunan science and Technology Press(the book includes a "foot arm","Yin and Yang"),the "Yellow Emperor","Lingshu" Suwen published in March 2012 in the people'sHealth Publishing house. This version is published before and after 1965 by the people who, because of the rare and finishing, large circulation. Therefore,in 1949 after the "classics" of the passage.Because the cover has branch Mei marking,it is also called the "plum blossom edition"."Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease " edited by Chaochen Qian and Wanshan Hao,published in August 2005 in the People's Health Publishing house.Content: This article consists of five parts. The first part will focus on the concept of meridian and the historical evolution from "meridian" to "six channels " and " the meridian system ".The second part will analyze the differentiation of six channels in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease word by word, highlighting the clinical directive significance of hand-and-foot meridian. The last part will talk about the development of the meridian system and eight principal syndrome differentiation and the relationship between the meridian system and the "open close pivot".Conclusion: we will have a clear understanding of the disease from the point of view of hand-and-foot meridian. And it will provide more theoretical guidance for our clinic.Through the comprehensive extract of the full text,we can draw the following conclusions:First: the hand-and-foot meridian system is closely related with thedifferentiation of six channels. Some are easy to notice while others are obscure. While a similar " stiff nape and back" can be used in small intestine hand taiyang meridian to a more reasonable interpretation. The symptom of taiyang water storage depends on the effect of mild gasification in small intestine taiyang meridian.Second: The ranks of Shaoyang meridian and six meridian.According to the meridian system, the order is Taiyang-Shaoyang-Yangming.Shaoyang tells the invasive process of pathogenic factors between Taiyang and Yangming and it is mainly known from the viewpoint of pathology. However, according to Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease, the order is Taiyang-Yangming-Shaoyang.And Shaoyang is mainly known from the viewpoint of physiology.Therfore, they are different.Third, according to the literature review of different diciplines,it can be concluded that the differentiation of six channels has adopted the Sanying and Sanyang fomula and it uses the theory of “open close pivot”to show Yin and Yang's impact on man.We can see the meridian system has played an important role in Sanyin and Sanyang and the the theory of“open close pivot”,and objective comments can be made in this way.
