Objective and Methods:To assess the effect and safety of itraconazole and voriconazole for Aspergillus fumigatus-associated asthma(AFAA)elderly patients,A single-center retrospective study was done to screen the patients who met the criteria of AFAA from 2015 to 2016 in The First Affiliated Hospital With Nanjing Medical University. The indicators such as Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire Score?Total serum IgE?lung function and so on were recorded after the itraconazole or voriconazole therapy at least 16 weeks.Data were analyzed using T test for related samples.Result:Forty-two patients started treatment(20 receiving itraconazole and 22 receiving,voriconazole).Forty-two patients took the full 16 weeks of medication.Between the itraconazole and voriconazole groups, there were significant differences in quality of life[change in Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire score,(1.065±0.58)VS(0.652±0.28),P<0.05],total serum IgE decreased in the itraconazole group[-(46.5±47.2)KU/L]but in voriconazole group[-(14.3 ±24.0)KU/L](P<0.05).No severe adverse events were observed, but seven patients developed abnormal liver function and blurred vision. Conclusion:Glucocorticoid based on the addition of itraconazole and voriconazole in the treatment of AFAA can improve the quality of life score and reduce serum total IgE levels.Itraconazole may be superior to voriconazole in this study. And antifungal treatment costs, itraconazole was significantly lower than voriconazole.
