On Huangyi's Fangbei Tu

My thesis is about Huangyi's fangbei tu (paintings from visits to stone stelae) and based on the researches regarding Huang's existing works. The main research objects are the images and inscriptions in fangbei tu, as well as relevant literature. I will develop four points.First, I will point out the differences between Huang's fangbei tu and the fangbei tu of other literati in history, which is in terms of the contents and forms of Huang's fangbei tu. And I will attribute Hang's fangbei tu to jiyou shanshui (landscapepaintings recording artists' travels) and discuss its artistic features.Second, I will examine the inscriptions of Huang's friends in Huang's fangbei tu. And I will use first-hand materials to explore Huang's social network concerning epigraphy. My study is different from former researches on the aspect of classification. I will focus on Huang's life and use his social network as auxiliary materials rather than classify his friends in a subjective way, in order to know different phases in Huang's life and his friends' influence on him in each phase.Moreover, I will pay attention to fangbei tu's social functions. I will expound the role that fangbei tu played in Huang's social network and in his activities about epigraphy. Last but no the least, I will trace the imitators of Huang's fangbei tu and consider the influence of Huang's fangbei tu. Also, I will rethink the historical status of the style of angbei tu within the context of Chinese landscape painting.
