Throughout more than 2000 years of China traditional painting, line styling is its most unique and most important of styling way. Zou Dezhong in Ming dynasty of the painted cover sums up the traditional "18 stroke" technique is based on morphology and aesthetic characteristics of induction into handwriting. Fine arts history, "Xu Jiang system" portrait realism laid the Foundation, Professor Tang Yongli, proposed "line drawing" teaching idea and method, but teacher Wang Xiaohui professors and other academic predecessors also promotes the research and development of representational figure painting. Whatever their purpose of creation, modeling concept, how different expressions, they always found side by side with the times of multiple lines, and guide the development of a steady stream of Chinese figure painting. Based on context of contemporary figure painting from ancient and modern comparison the aesthetic value of the line, line changes, and it reflects the era characteristics. As important techniques of Chinese painting, modeling and formal language, modern ink painting with a line containing content and traditional portrait has quite a different meaning and visual experience with a line; figure in modern theme changes, painter of figures and aesthetic changes have affected the way with a line, modern painting structure with more complex lines. I listed one contemporary impressionistic portrait painters in the line of development is innovation based on tradition, they are exploring ways in which line has a greater space for expression language. Therefore, modern portraits have been structured with more complex lines, meaningful and expressive line is the product of time painting, this language is based on traditional and has expanded, in line with the pluralistic patterns of ink figure painting.
